As Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn describes "Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment with intention, while letting go of judgment, as if your life depends on it." Much easier said than done in a world in which we are rewarded for multi-tasking, assigned importance for being busy, and expected to be in many places ~ both physically and mentally ~ at once. A much-too-often phrase that is heard is "Where did time go?" The answer is that time has gone into the past. The worries of our future will quickly become our past. What we do have is this moment....and this moment....and this moment....
Our brains have been wired to live up to the pressures of modern society, yet our oldest traditions rooted in all religions and spiritual beliefs teach us the importance of quieting our mind and hearts in order to be open to listening to our true message. Mindfulness is the continual practice of quieting our mind, focusing our mind, and fully experiencing the present moment. The important message of this continuous practice is just that, it takes practice.
Mindfulness classes, workshops and sessions are offered to give you the opportunity to learn mindfulness exercises and skills to build a life of intention. You will be introduced to mindfulness exercises and given time and space to practice them in vivo as well as a plan for building the practices into your life - all of this while you cultivate patience, non-judgment, loving kindness, the beginner's mind, letting go, and other mindful tenants.
